The type of crane or hoist appropriate for use in the aerospace industry often depends on the type of building structure. In conventional buildings with spans of 40 metres or less single span overhead cranes of the single or double girder type are normally the best solution. However, by necessity, aircraft maintenance hangars and manufacturing facilities are often open plan with spans of 100 metres or more. In such cases underhung crane systems are often more appropriate. Multiple single span underhung cranes can give a very flexible solution but in other cases one crane with multiple suspension points can span the whole building. Street has also supplied jib crane, goliath cranes and monorail hoisting systems to a variety of applications. More information on all the above crane types is given on the product selection of this site.
