Street
Crane's original manufacturing facility
was in England’s ‘steel city’
of Sheffield and hence the company acquired
early the expertise to successfully handle
molten metal. Since those early days Street
has supplied such cranes to many metal
smelters world-wide and Streets development
engineers have applied the very latest
technology to ladle cranes to improve
productivity and safety.
Ladle cranes will typically have an auxiliary
hoist to tip the ladle and be provided
with programmable
speed control and electrical braking
to limit load swing. The latest such cranes
from the Street stable also include Swing
Prevention software which calculates
the load swing that would be induced by
the crane movement and using algorithm
driving 'flux vector' technology causes
the crane to take evasive action, the
result is a startlingly stable load even
at fast speeds.
When specifying cranes to lift molten
metal, users should pay special attention
to the duty classifications of the electromechanical
parts and the crane structure. |
